ATTENTION: At 1100 hrs. on 30 Sep 09, BWT Project Construction Inspector identified a partial bank failure located at Black Warrior River Mile 329 on the right descending bank. The failure area is adjacent to the active Ophelia Upland Disposal Site Area in which maintenance dredged material was being placed. The bank failure resulted in trees and bank material being pushed out and extending into the navigation channel approximately 190 ft. This initial failure restricted the navigation channel down to 120 ft. in width.
